Committees & Link Governors

The Full Governing Body meets at least five times a year. The Committees meet in between each of the main meetings and Chairs of these committees report back to the Full Governing Body at each meeting.

Most governors are members of one or two committees, whose work is reported back to
the full governing body. This is so all governors are kept informed of matters and working progress. T

Currently we have 3 separate committees:

  • Curriculum committee – a sub set of governors sit on the curriculum committee, ensuring our curriculum best supports children’s learning and development. Meets at least once per term
  • Resources committee – a different sub set of governors is responsible for overseeing the school’s finances and resources, ensuring the school has the resources to deliver the best possible education and that we have a realistic and sustainable budget. Meets at least once per term
  • Safeguarding Committee – a sub set of governors oversee all aspects of safeguarding, welfare and inclusion. They monitor attendance and review all relevant policies regularly. Meets at least once per term.

Link Governors

A link governor is a member of the governing board appointed to oversee a specific aspect of the work of the school. Most link governors will periodically visit the school to review their link specialty (e.g. maths, safeguarding, finance etc)

The role of a link governor in general,  involves :

  • Making pre-arranged visits to the school, with a clear focus
  • Keeping the governing board informed about the area for which they’re responsible, and acting as a link between governors and staff
  • Supporting the member of staff who is responsible for the particular area/subject
  • Developing knowledge in the specialist area and taking part in relevant training
  • Ensuring the school has relevant policies in place
  • Monitoring the implementation of the school’s strategy in the specialist area
