Caroline Schloss – Chair of Governors
I have lived in the area for more than 40 years and have known the school since then. Before I retired I worked as a local solicitor. I became Chair of Governors seven years ago. I really love what I do and hope that I am playing my part in ensuring that the children at Alexandra receive the education that they deserve. I have one son who is now grown up and married. For many years I was also a foster carer, and looked after 16 children (not all at once), which has been extremely rewarding.

Forever proud to be an educator at heart, my approach to safeguarding holds the highest regard for actively fostering a culture that makes safeguarding everyone’s responsibility and encompasses working with children and ‘adults at risk’ to raise their awareness of how they can keep themselves safe by making safe choices.
Local to the school, being an Alexandra School governor is a privilege. I enjoy working hard, and smart with others to secure equitable opportunities to ensure every child has life chances to flourish and realise their potential, including being suitably focused on improving life chances and best outcomes of those most vulnerable and for underrepresented, marginalised and historically excluded groups.
As a qualified teacher of over twenty years, I held the post of senior teacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead, Looked After Children and Inclusion at one of London’s top performing secondary schools with nearly 2000 students and 200 staff consistently achieved OFSTED outstanding for Safeguarding and Pastoral Care. I am currently a Premier League Club Director of Safeguarding and Inclusion and a Foundation Community trustee; I provide strategic leadership for diversity, inclusion and equity, and the safety and well-being of children and ‘adults at risk’ and all stakeholders across all areas of the Club.

Ifti Khan – Parent Governor
I have worked in tech for the last couple of decades. Prior to that, I had a career as a medical research scientist. I am the father of two current Alexandra Primary pupils, and one who is now in his first year of secondary school having been at Alexandra since nursery. I have lived in Wood Green for 15 years and chose to become a Parent Governor in order to help make a difference in my community. I firmly believe that all children should have the best possible opportunities to learn and grow, irrespective of class, race, gender etc. I personally benefited from inspirational teachers at every stage of my lengthy education, and as a parent, I am thankful for the dedication and hard work that I have seen in my boys’ teachers in this school.
Margaret Lachman – Co-opted Member
I am very proud to be a governor at Alexandra school to support all facets of pupil learning. I have been a teacher for many years in inner city, London secondary schools, and currently, I am working in Initial Teacher Training with the Department of Education. I am passionate about and committed to enhancing expectations and raising levels of achievement for all learners. I have an inclusive approach to education that emphasises equality of access, achievement and attainment very highly, and celebrates the rich diversity of our society.
I have developed sustainable International partnerships with schools in Hungary and Grenada with the British Council. I am also a governor in a secondary school.

Oliver Simms – Co-opted Member
Oliver brings his knowledge as a chartered accountant specialising in public sector finance to his role as Finance-link Governor for Alexandra Primary School. He also represents the school on the Haringey Schools Forum. Before becoming a governor, he used to organise the food storage for Bounds Green Food Bank, showing his passion for supporting the community where he lives.

Muneerah Ali -Co-opted member
I’ve always felt a strong connection to the community that shaped me. Having been brought up here, I’ve benefited first hand from the support, values, and opportunities that this community offers. I’m currently a mathematics teacher at a local secondary school.
By contributing to the governance of Alexandra Primary school, I hope to help create an environment where today’s children can thrive, just as I once did. This role allows me to honor my roots and help build a strong foundation for the future of our community.
